The best way before your phone is stolen or lost is to do something by yourself. There is a lot of software on the internet which allows you to get information about the current MSISDN (phone number) using your phone, location of the phone (if your phone supports GPS or by CELL info), to delete your phonebook remotely, to lock your phone etc…

My iPhone was stolen a few weeks back. I was able to track it down using http://www.me.com/find but somehow my device was removed so it is not registered to the system anymore. The police have been informed but they haven’t done anything about it so, here I am trying my hardest to track it down. Is there any possile way of tracking an iPhone using the IMEI Number and / or the Serial Number that is free ?

You need to decide if you want free software or commercial. Then you need to visit website of the software and check if it support your operating system. When you find suitable software for your phone then you can download it from software official website.

It is not possible to install anti-theft software to all phones. Software is usualy made for specific operating system and for the same reason you need to check if it supports your operating system.
As I can see, Nokia C3 do not have any known operating system for such software so it could be that you can not install it on this phone.

how to locate a phone which is nither iPhone nor android?
You need to install the tracking software which supports your operating system. If you don’t have any known operating system then you will need to find some other way. We are not aware of such software for phones that do not have Symbian, Android, IOS or Windows operating system.
I lost HTC HD2 phone. I had installed f-secure phone. It had Window 6.5 operating System. I did not get any sms alert, nor could I track the device. It was flicked it from my pocket in Bangalore. I think if the device is connected to PC and a complete Operating system is reiinstalled, none of these(so called anti-theft) will work. Any inputs?
Maybe nobody found your mobile, or maybe found it but not use it as it could be damaged or empty battery or anything else. No solution for such case from our side.

Software should support your operating system and installed on your phone before it is lost or stolen. Also, software must be configured properly and new SIM card should have access to GPRS/UMTS network and funds on SIM card or Postpaid account to be able to communicate with you (by SMS, email, …). You should check which software you have and which application will suite your needs.

Still the very important question is there, what if I have the IMEI and my mobile got stolen, what I can do?

We do not have software. You need to find software on your own. You can use one from the list on our website, but you need to install one which supports your phone (operating system).

There is no way to find it easily, you can only do whatever you can and hope that somebody will return your phone. Try submiting also to online databases. No other ways are possible easily

Just try to locate it through Google Latitude if phone is turned ON and if new owner did not make factory reset.
